CHAPTER EIGHT
A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.
Oscar Wilde
Rachel
âMay I walk you home tonight?â Rachel asked. It was still far from closing time, and neither of them had had anywhere near too much to drink.
It had been such a long time for Rachel that she was practically salivating while looking at the beautiful face across the table and hardly able to believe that they'd reached this stage. An incredible bond existed between them.
âYou want to walk me home?â Simone's piercing eyes had connected with Rachel's soul while they sat there.
âOr perhaps you'd like to come back to my place?â Rachel ventured.
âWhen you say your place, I take it you mean beyond the entrance lobby and all the way into the heart of your home?â
Rachel smiled, remembering the day before. That wasn't such a bad experience in her lobby. She nodded and replied. âI mean all the way into my bedroom.â
Third time lucky, she'd thought they'd be going home together the first night they met. Things didn't seem quite right the second time after clearing the air and the bombshell revelation. Three felt like a lucky number. Tonight should be the night.
Simone nodded slowly in answer. âAll the way to your bedroom is an invitation I'm not likely to turn down, and if I did, I am sure I'd regret it.â
Together they gulped down the remains of their drinks. They stood up, and with conscious effort, Simone kept a distance from Rachel, not touching her. Neither of them wanting to attract attention. Not wanting anyone in the bar to see how eager they were to get where they were going. Even though it felt so obvious, Rachel couldn't figure out how people had secret affairs that they continued over the months and years. She already had a growing appreciation for the difficulty and stress that faced Harvey and Michael on a daily basis, when they kept their love a secret from the world.
Everything felt so right between the women, as it did the first time they met. A magnetic erotic chemistry pulled them together. Rachel couldn't fight it even if she wanted to.
She was ready to love this woman with all her heart and her body.
